The idea is that we limit ourselves if we do not attempt anything new if that new thing is difficult to learn. So, once the kid get better at something and sees that the struggle was worth it, then the next time that they want something and they have to struggle, they won't quit. That's the idea, anyways.
I just went through this with wrestling with 2 of my boys. We were all miserable and none of us knew anything about wrestling. But we stuck it out for 12 weeks, twice a week with temper tantrums galore and my kids still suck at wrestling. I dont know what they were supposed to learn from sticking it out, but we did it!
